WELCOME TO 7th GRADE SCIENCE!

WELCOME TO SCIENCE! The next 36 weeks will be exciting! You will be learning about computers and technology, plus have an introduction to Life Science and Anatomy. Plus we will spend some time on science fiction of yesterday (which in some cases is now science-fact!) and the science fiction of tomorrow! We will be working with microscopes, dissecting equipment, live and preserved specimens, virtual dissections...why we may even blow up a few things just for some Physics fun!! We will be busy, but I think you'll have fun and will enjoy learning!

You will be checking out a Holt Life Science CD for home studies. Please leave this CD at home and be very careful. It will cost $60 if it is lost or damaged. In addition, you will be checking out the Glenco Red Science book from my classroom. I do have a class set of books if we need to use them at school, PLUS we will have some additional reading via the internet and other classroom biology books /articles.

I ALWAYS send weekly e-mails on Friday night/Saturday morning. Please be sure to check your e-mail DAILY to see if I have sent additional information. All e-mails will be sent prior to 8pm.

In addition, you will need a special 1 inch Science Notebook Section in your 3-ring binders or a separate 1/2 inch notebook. This science section will need to have the following dividers:
1) Syllabus/Class Guidelines & Rules 2) Agendas 3) Journals
4) Class notes 5) Video Notes 6) Reading outline
7) Reading questions 8) Labs 9) Handouts/worksheets 10) etc.
These dividers DO NOT need to be purchased but can easily be made with typing paper and masking tape!

Please keep all your materials for this class in this 3-ring, 1 inch Science notebook and bring it EVERYDAY to class. A very large percentage of your grade is based on these homework/class notebooks. The more complete and neat the notebook the better the grade. (Note : if they are hard to read, they are hard to study!!)

I will collect ALL your work for each unit at one time. These dates are noted on your syllabus by "Notebook turn in dates". Please assemble your work to turn in, in the order of the cover sheet. Notebooks that have work out of order lose 50 points!!! I do not want to have to search for your completed assignments!!

You will receive a 3-4 week syllabus that states on a daily basis, class work, labs, videos, homework, review and tests dates.

LATE WORK IS UNACCEPTABLE!!
You will lose 50% of points possible if work is ONE day late!
Please plan ahead and complete all work ON TIME!!! Work/assignments/tests will not be a surprise for you... please don't ask for extensions!

All reading assignments are to be outlined!! (This means you take some notes on what you're reading!) You will be graded on these reading notes. DO NOT COPY from the book, but put "in your own words" what the book is telling you. If you need help in outlining,
