Marshall's Performing Arts Department Fundraiser

On Sept. 12, students were given catalogs, order forms, collection envelopes, and prize information about our annual fundraiser through "Cherrydale." Please take a few moments to browse through the catalog and find an item or two (or maybe more) that you would like to purchase to assist our theatre classes. There are prizes to be won, and one student will earn a special prize as the top dollar-amount seller.

All orders are due (with money) on Friday, September 26. Checks should be made out to M.M.S. Orders may also be placed online through www.cherydale.com. Students will receive credit for orders placed online as well as those orders submitted at school.

Products (and prizes) will be delivered at school on October 16, plenty of time for holiday gift-giving.

Our theatre, choir, and instrumental music classes hold a fundraiser each year because our needs are special! We need accessible funds in order to purchase all the things that performers need.

Our theatre classes use funds for things like script purchase, props, costumes (rental or purchase), set pieces, specialty makeups, and many many odd items that make up the world of theatre. Last year I remember shopping for plastic pig noses and Dorothy's ruby slippers! Also, I like to bring working actors into the classroom to offer workshops so that our students can get a taste of what it's like to be in a professional stage company. These classroom guests work hard to provide our students with unforgettable experiences, and because of our fundraiser I am able to pay them for their services.

Our individual funds carry over from year to year, so while some years require few expenditures, other years might demand more. For example, our spring musical last year ("Aladdin") was our most expensive show ever, and we were so grateful that our fundraiser provided us with funds for things like sparkly genie makeup, croc bird feet and feathers, and the royalty money needed for music and scripts.

We want our theatre parents to know how appreciative we are for your contributions to our treasury. Your help contributes to the high-quality performing arts program that we strive to have here at Marshall.

Thank you,

Mrs. Sullivant
