2007-08 Tech Leaders • Summer Trips • Tech Leader Hall of Fame
The Technology Student Leaders (Tech Leaders) at Marshall play an important role in the successful Exploring Technology program at the school. The Tech Leaders are 8th grade students who serve as teacher assistants for each of the tech classes. To be considered as candidates for a Tech Leader position, interested 7th grade Tech students apply in March of each year.
Students must earn high grades in the Exploring Technology class, complete a written application and pass an oral interview. There is stiff competition for the available positions and because of this, some students who apply do not meet all the qualifications. Once the new Tech Leaders have been selected, an announcement is made prior to spring break and they begin their work at the start of the following school year.
Tech Leaders provide valuable service
by assisting students, maintaining equipment and helping to run the Tech Lab.
The Tech Leaders also have their own club where they sell soft drinks after
school. The profits from the sales are used to purchase equipment for the Tech
Lab and to help pay for themselves to go on various trips and activities.
Tech Leaders Have Fun on Trips
and Activities
Each year, the Tech Leaders go on several trips. Their
agenda includes Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm and California
Adventure. In addition to these trips, they also go to the Del Mar Fair and
the Auto Show as well as occasional Friday outings. The biggest event of the
year is the annual Tech Leader Summer Trip held after school is out in June.
The first trip was held in the summer of 2002 and was a blast. Click on the

Hall of Fame
The Student Technology Leader program at Marshall started in the second year
of the school and has continued each year since then. Many hardworking students
have been Tech Leaders during the past several years and their contributions
