Asian Brush Painting
![]() |
Unlike western art where the focus is to create something that looks realistic, Asian brush painting tries to capture the spirit of the scene using loose, simple lines instead of lots of detail. The landscape is the focus of this unit. Concepts of value and harmony are introduced to discuss ink washes and atmospheric perspective. The final product is an outside ink landscape painting with soft brushes and black ink. (hint: watercolor can be substituted for sumie ink.) |
