GETTING ORGANIZED: TIPS

TUTORING OPTIONS

- KEYS TO SUCCESS -
WHAT PARENTS CAN DO TO SUPPORT THEIR CHILDREN

1. If your child is sick, but well enough to work, arrange to get the homework. (Email the teacher, have a neighborhood friend bring the work home, etc.)

2. Check out your child’s grades on the Internet on a weekly basis or email the teacher weekly requests for grade updates. Students were given grade access passwords at the start of the school year – contact the teacher if it gets lost. If you don’t have an Internet connection at home, come to the school's media center/library to check your child’s grades or go to the public library and use their free computers.

3. Remind your child about long-term projects like science projects or Ancient Civilization reports.

4. Assist your child in obtaining a library card so that she/he can use all the wonderful FREE resources of the public library system.

5. On a daily basis tell your kid how wonderful she/he is. No one ever gets tired of hearing how wonderful they are (really!).

6. Buy an excellent dictionary and thesaurus for your child! Make sure they use it - let them see you using it!

6. Communicate regularly with the teacher and with your child.
